Beach Read by Emily Henry

Beach Read

Augustus Everett writes literary fiction, where tragedy reigns. January Andrews is a bestselling romance author, crafting happily-ever-afters. They couldn’t be more different—except for the fact that they’re both broke, battling writer’s block, and stuck in neighboring beach houses for the summer.

One hazy night, they make a deal: Augustus will try his hand at a feel-good love story, while January attempts the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on rom-com-worthy adventures; he’ll introduce her to the dark world of true crime research. The goal? Finish their books. Absolutely not fall in love. No way.

Review

[I want to give it 3.7 stars but can’t really do that here so I’ll go with 4] Not sure why but I went into beach read expecting a light, breezy romance and boy was I wrong. It was anything but that because both Gus and January have such complicated and harsh histories. Both of them had clearly hit a rough patch in their lives due to different reasons but I believe the depth of their turmoils were nealy similar leading them to connect with each other.
