Funny Story by Emily Henry

Funny Story

After her fiancé, Peter, falls in love with his childhood best friend, Petra, Daphne finds herself stranded in Waning Bay, Michigan, with no friends or family, a barely-paying librarian job, and a new living arrangement with Petra’s ex, Miles. Miles, a scruffy and chaotic musician, is the opposite of Daphne, a practical and secretive woman. As the two begin to form a tentative friendship, they hatch a plan to post misleading photos of their summer adventures together. But as their fake relationship deepens, Daphne starts to wonder if she might be falling for Miles—her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex.

Review

i didn’t have particularly high expectations for funny story, but in all transparency, this just might be my favorite book of hers, hovering right above beach read (which i thoroughly enjoyed) and book lovers (of which i have no recollection but still think highly). it’s far from perfect, but it does a lot of things well, and that’s quite a feat considering it’s less than 400 pages (proof that less is more!) and, according to the reviews i’ve seen, her most “romantic” romance novel yet.

This book has my first read of Emily and it has really made me obsessed with her writing. The way the story has started and everything had build up looked so real. I was feeling the hate, anger, emotional and even butterflies while reading through the story. I think this book should be a must read for people who are into romantic genre or even trying to explore this genre. Even with the beginner’s perspective this book is best as it will hold the interest of the person till the very end. I completed my book within two days and trust me this is the first time I ever read a book so fast.
